Achieve Opens Registration for 27th Annual Dash for Dignity
Dallas, Texas – September 3, 2020 Achieve is preparing for their 27th Annual Dash for Dignity on Saturday, October 3, 2020. The annual event includes a certified 5K race plus a 1-mile walk. Due to COVID-19, Achieve is introducing a Virtual 5K run and walk that will allow anyone nationwide to participate. Each person registering will receive a free t-shirt along with a runner’s packet. Those wishing to participate can visit https://achievedfw.org/dashfordignity/ to register.
Dallas Medical Center has again teamed up with Achieve as the premier sponsor alongside many generous media partners and sponsors. In 2019, the event drew over 1,000 participants in support of Achieve’s mission to remove barriers to work so Achieve’s clients can accomplish economic self-sufficiency. Businesses or individuals wanting to sponsor the event can visit www.achievedfw.org/dashfordignity to sign up. By supporting Achieve during the Dash for Dignity on October 3rd, you are helping individuals with disabilities to overcome barriers to work and give them the opportunity to achieve their highest level of employment and independence.
Achieve, like so many businesses, was hit hard by COVID-19 resulting in an urgent need of support. When the virus hit, 160 Achievers were sent home as a preventative measure to ensure the health and safety of our Achievers, staff and volunteers. Achieve personnel quickly set up a virtual network so their training and coaching could continue. Today, these same Achievers are coming back to the center, excited and looking forward to completing their training so they too can become part of the work force and enjoy meaningful employment.
“Workforce Development Programs are part of how Achieve accomplishes their mission. The training provided is designed to meet the specific needs of each person, so they enter the work force job-ready and with new life skills that empower them to succeed,” stated Tim Allen, Executive Director of Achieve. “Achieve also offers specific employment programs for American veterans with disabilities and assists them in finding employment.”
Achieve is a non-profit organization serving more than 1,000 individuals with severe intellectual, physical, and/or mental health disabilities annually from Dallas county and surrounding areas. We fulfill our mission through two primary programs: Community Employment Placement and Work Center/Vocational Training.
